EPSCOR travel awards to attend the 2024 BRD Symposium

The 2024 Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) Symposium enthusiastically invites early career faculty from EPSCoR institutions/states to submit a statement of interest for consideration for travel awards to attend the 2024 BRD Symposium. This symposium will be held in conjunction with the Academy of Veterinary Consultants (AVC) Summer Conference in Denver, Colorado, USA. The conference schedule is available at www.brdsymposium.org, and registration will open on May 1 and will be available at www.avc-beef.org.

Statement of interest

There are two EPSCOR travel awards available, each for $500. Candidates should write a statement of interest, as per the following instructions:

Eligibility and instructions:

• To qualify, early career faculty (must have received a terminal degree in the last three years) should be currently affiliated to a College or University from an EPSCoR state (USDA EPSCOR), and should work on Bovine Respiratory Disease. EPSCoR states include: Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wyoming.

• Please note your name, affiliation, position and year when you obtained your terminal degree, and clearly but succinctly answer the three questions below. The statement of interest will be evaluated based on quality, applicability and impact of the faculty’s work on BRD and the cattle industry.

• Your statement of interest should be included in a word document and not exceed two pages.

• Deadline for submission is June 1st, 2024. Awardees will be notified on June 21, 2024.

• Monetary awards will be conferred during the BRD Symposium; recipients must be in attendance to accept their awards.
